The 5th Annual George “Spider” Anderson Music & Arts Festival is a free, family-friendly celebration that honors the legacy of George “Spider” Anderson, the first Black jockey to win the Preakness in 1889, while welcoming national and local artists, vendors, food, horseback rides, family activities, and more, all while keeping culture, commerce, and community at the center. This festival serves as a powerful community activation and economic driver for Park Heights. This year’s “Preakness in Park Heights” theme invites guests to dress like they’re going to the races — because they are! Best dressed attendees will win their share of prizes.
